The American jazz pianist Richie Beirach presents his first live solo recording since 1981. The new release "Leaving" consists of the stunning recording of the concert at Château Fleur Cardinale, France and is a masterpiece of timeless jazz standards combined with Beirach"s unique and rhythmic interpretations.
Richard Alan Beirach, better known as Richie Beirach, was born in Brooklyn on May 23, 1947, and began playing the piano at the age of 5. He received his musical education from pianist and composer James Palmieri, who taught him the importance of music. He performed in New York clubs in the 1960s and studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1967. In 1968, Beirach returned to New York to study composition at the Manhattan School of Music. From 1981 to 1991 he was part of the band Quest and has also collaborated with John Abercrombie, Chet Baker and John Scofield. In the 1990s, he worked mainly in two trio formations and was also active with drummer Patrick Manzecchi.Since 2015, Beirach now lives in Hessheim, Germany, after giving up his professorship at the Leipzig Conservatory. Now Beirach presents his first live recording in over forty years. The album "Leaving" features pianist Beirach in a unique solo concert at the Château in France, playing timeless standards and two of his own compositions "Leaving" and "Sunday Song" on a Steinway grand piano. The result is a masterpiece of the pianist that shows his musical vision and passion for jazz in his interpretations and gives the standard pieces an unmistakable swing factor.
